Part 66 Type Ratings

Every mechanic who has to release an aircraft to service must hold the relevant aeroplane type rating. This type rating must be obtained via a course in accordance with the EASA Part 147 standards. IAAG offers T1 and T2 type rating training courses for ATR, Embraer and F406.

Each course includes a theoretical part and practice on aeroplanes (excluding in-service training). It is aimed at maintenance technicians working under "Part 145" with the purpose of gaining sufficient knowledge of the aircraft to be able to work on the aeroplane completely independently. This course entitles the type rating to be added to a Part 66 licence to demonstrate authorisation to release the corresponding aircraft to service.
